Total Recall.
Building a couple of models for the mid 80’s failed attempt at making the film Total
Recall years before the Schwarzenegger version.
The film Total Recall started in the mid 80’s and was well into pre before it was canceled. I was part of a large model making team that had put out lots of miniatures. I got to do several vehicles.
The main one was this train to be used as a background element for live action scenes. The model was all acrylic and styrene. It had working doors and ran on wheels along a track in the set.
Another build was a large complex on Mars and we had to fill it all with many vehicles. They are barely seen and so we were given only a couple of days to do it all.
It was a great deal of fun as we had a free hand at what we made, just had to be fast. So the detail on the vehicles was minimal and all pretty much kit bashed.
These are the only images I have and couple of things were never photographed. One other task was a pile of car wrecks for a future ruined New York street.
